Privacy Policy

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

CoParent Help ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you access or use the CoParent Help website, mobile application, and services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge and agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

We may collect information you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Name, email address, and account details
  • Phone number (when voluntarily provided for SMS notifications)
  • Communications, messages, and shared content
  • Uploaded files, images, and documents
  • Subscription and billing information (processed via third-party providers)

b. Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Timestamps, logs, and usage activity
  • Metadata related to messages and file uploads

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Enable secure communication and record-keeping
  • Send transactional and marketing SMS messages (with your consent)
  • Authenticate users and prevent misuse
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

3. Phone Numbers & SMS Communications

When you provide your phone number during account setup, you may optionally consent to receive SMS messages from CoParent Help. We offer two separate categories of SMS, each requiring independent consent:

  • Transactional SMS: Account notifications, schedule alerts, security codes, and password reset links.
  • Marketing SMS: Co-parenting tips, feature updates, and promotional content (no more than 4 messages per month).

You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any message or by updating your preferences in account settings. Reply HELP for assistance.

Message and data rates may apply. CoParent Help does not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your phone number is used solely to deliver the SMS messages you consented to receive.

For full details on our SMS program, see our SMS Consent & Information page.

4. Record Retention & Data Integrity

Certain communications, logs, and records may be stored in a non-editable or restricted-edit format to preserve accuracy and integrity.

You acknowledge:

  • Content you submit may be retained
  • Deletion or modification may be limited
  • We do not validate the accuracy of user-submitted data

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may share information:

  • With service providers (hosting, payments, analytics)
  • When required by law, court order, or legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, or integrity of users or the Service
  • In connection with a business transfer or reorganization

All third-party providers are required to safeguard data appropriately.

5.1 Research Participation (Optional)

If you opt in to research participation in Settings, we may invite you to complete optional surveys funded by research partners (family-law firms, academic researchers, advocacy groups). Participation is always optional per invitation.

If you choose to participate, we share only aggregated results — combined with at least 9 other users' answers, with no field or combination of fields that could identify you. We never share your name, email, exact location, child information, partner information, or court case details with research partners.

We will not sell raw, user-identifiable data to brokers, ad networks, or any other third party. The opt-in toggle controls participation in aggregated research only; it cannot authorize sale of individual-level records.

You can withdraw at any time in Settings → Privacy & Research. Withdrawal stops future invitations and removes you from future cohorts; it cannot recall aggregated results already shared.

5.2 Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

  • Know what information we collect (this Section 4 and 5)
  • Access a copy of your data (Settings → Privacy & Research → Download)
  • Correct inaccurate data (Settings → Profile)
  • Delete your data (Settings → Privacy & Research → Delete)
  • Opt out of research participation (Settings → Privacy & Research)
  • Limit use of sensitive data (Settings → Privacy)
  • Non-discrimination — declining research will never restrict your use of any feature of the app, and we will not offer different pricing or service tiers based on your research-participation choice.

6. Legal & Court-Related Disclosures

Users may choose to export or present their own records for legal or court purposes.

CoParent Help does not independently submit, verify, or disclose user records to courts unless legally required.

We make no guarantees regarding legal admissibility or outcomes.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information.

However, no system is completely secure. You acknowledge and accept this risk.

8. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining account security
  • Protecting your login credentials
  • Ensuring accuracy of submitted information

We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from user negligence.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 18.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

10. Data Retention

We retain information:

  • For as long as your account is active
  • As necessary to provide the Service
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To resolve disputes or enforce agreements

Retention periods may vary by data type.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Request corrections
  • Request deletion (subject to retention limits)
  • Withdraw consent where applicable

Requests may be submitted via email and are subject to identity verification and legal requirements.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party tools or platforms (including hosting infrastructure and payment processors).

We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. Use of third-party services is governed by their respective policies.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically.

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
